Art of Football Celebrates Women's World Cup Moments with 'Button Down Under' Shirt

Limited edition embroidered shirt creates a snapshot of football history

Art of Football, the fashion collective and creative community that sits at the heart of modern football fan culture, has today launched the ‘AOF Button-Down Under’ shirt in celebration of the breath taking moments that made the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup a tournament to remember. 

Famed for turning football’s best bits into reactive streetwear, AOF were on-the-ground across the duration of the World Cup, designing the shirt in real-time as the action unfolded. The result is AOF’s most reactive piece ever; an off-white Cuban-style shirt that features 22 iconic moments from the tournament, each woven into the design with 200,000 stitches and eight hours of embroidery per shirt. The design includes references to:

  • Hannah Wilkinson’s goal for New Zealand in the tournament opener and what was New Zealand's first ever world cup win
  • Morocco’s Nouhaila Benzina, who became the first player to wear the Hijab at a World Cup
  • Asisat Oshoala's iconic celebration after scoring for Nigeria against Australia. The goal made Oshoala the first Super Falcons' player to score in three consecutive World Cups, and the first African player to score at three different WWC's
  • Brazil’s Marta, who may not have got the fairy tale ending she deserved, but her message for future generations was truly inspirational
  • Zambia’s Barbra Banda scoring the 1000th goal in Women’s World Cup history 

From a blank canvas as the tournament kicked-off in July, to the unique shirt that doubles as a snapshot of sporting history; the ‘AOF Button-Down Under’ encapsulates everything that AOF stands for: inspirational, celebratory, inclusive, and uniting. It is available now as part of a limited run of highly-sought-after pieces.
