Created by OPC/FamilyStyle director Miles Jay, along with digital design and development agency Jam3 and visual effects studio 567vfx, Young Empires' 'White Doves' is the first music video to seamlessly integrate Facebook data into the narrative experience, making the viewer play a part in the film.
The Facebook connect music video, which launched today, celebrates relationships and memories. The interactive experience begins after a viewer connects to Facebook, via http://www.whitedoves.me, and gives the app permission to access their personal information. From there the app requests the name of the viewer's best friend the app then pulls mutually tagged photos of you and your chosen friend and incorporates your relationship into the music video.
"My goal is to inspire the user on how special their friendships and memories are," explains Miles Jay. "With pulling photos and information from Facebook, I believe you can make a stronger emotional connection than with a traditional music video."
"In addition to pulling photos in via the Facebook API, the photos are motion tracked within Flash and dynamically colour corrected to match the lighting and aesthetic of the music video," explains Adrian Belina, Creative Director, Jam3. "In the final piece, images appear behind fire, fall from the sky and take on burnt edges and dust creating a unique story personalized for each fan."

This is the second online experience launched by Miles Jay this month, the first being Carly's Cafe, which takes the user inside the world of a girl with Autism.
"I feel very lucky to be starting my career right now," says Jay. "While many people are complaining about lower budgets and the industry changing, I think we are at a turning point on how we tell stories. Developments in digital media have allowed us to push storytelling into new areas. Whether it's an interactive experience like Carly's Cafe or a sit back experience like White Doves, I want to tell emotive stories and find the best medium to tell it."
