Wonder's 'Matters of the Heart' Event Reveals the True Power of Emotions in Experience Design

The specialist business experience agency that is part of the Amplify agency collective explore how emotions can be harnessed to create more engaging experiences

Wonder, the creative agency specialising in reimagining business experiences, yesterday (Weds 25 September 2024) hosted the latest of its 'Wonder Together' series of events.

Held at Soho House, Dean Street, the session - entitled 'Matters of the Heart' and led by renowned cognitive scientist Katherine Templar Lewis - was an exploration of how emotions can be harnessed to create more engaging experiences, stimulate memory, influence decision-making and incite positive action. As well as her Uncertainty Experts podcast series, Templar - an expert in the field of neuroaesthetics - has worked alongside the likes of Google, Nike and Beyoncé to help accelerate the real-world applications of scientific research.

The interactive keynote and Q&A session with Templar and Wonder executive creative director, David Crease, covered topics as wide-ranging as multi-sensory stimuli, the power of oxytocin and AI's ability to write stand-up comedy. It provided a number of valuable takeouts for attendees, which will be shared by Wonder in the coming weeks.

A packed house of industry leaders from different disciplines filled the Dean Street screening room, including guests from Expedia, Google, Santander, Stripe and Vodafone who, across the course of the session, participated in a number of live neuroaesthetic ‘experiments’. 

Introducing the session, Wonder director, Dan Keene said of the event series, "We hope guests leave Wonder Together sessions feeling both inspired and informed; with fresh, relevant knowledge to reflect upon, share and - crucially - leverage in their day jobs. Given Wonder's ambition to create more human business experiences for clients, we hope these sessions will help challenge the industry to think differently about what's possible.”
