The event was hosted by Sticker's own female founder Harleymoon Kemp

Last WOMEN IN FILM, Sticker Studios curated the Women in Film event with The YOUNG ARROWS. Both dedicated to spotlighting and celebrating emerging talent in the UK's moving image advertising industry. It was a joint mission to promote greater accessibility and cultivate the diverse, inclusive talent pool essential for the industry’s growth.

Hosted by Sticker's own female founder Harleymoon Kemp - who shares her own journey as a filmmaker in a male dominated industry and the passion to create more representation in the industry in front and behind the camera through Women in Film events. The night showcased four amazing female talents who have been nominated for or awarded a Young Arrow in previous years.

Sticker Studios started the screening with Rebecca Tzouliou (also known as Betty), a VFX and 3D artist. Rebecca began her career as a hairdresser and was introduced to the world of VFX by a customer. Captivated by this new field, she swapped her scissors for a mouse and keyboard during lockdown. Since then, she has felt welcomed in the industry, especially after joining ETC, and has worked on major projects for brands like Virgin Media and Cow&Gate.

Eden Read shared her journey from knocking over a pot of coffee at her first in-house job to discovering her passion for editing. She started as a runner at a production company and is now an editor for Assembly Rooms. Eden emphasised the importance of seizing opportunities and being bold enough to say, "I’ll do it.”

Marilena Vatseri, executive producer at NOMINT (an animation studio based in London), started her career in Greece in architecture. However, she found architecture lacked the creative freedom she desired and transitioned to animation after encountering a studio in Athens. Despite not initially knowing After Effects, she quickly learnt on the job. Marilena shared, “The most competitive and creative minds are in London. It’s been almost 15 years since moving NOMINT to London, and while it hasn't been easy, it’s been the most rewarding journey with the sky being the limit.”

The Set Sisters, who both studied performance art, discovered their passion for art direction during lockdown. They began creating photoshoots with their housemates and found that working together was seamless due to their shared interests and taste. Posting their work on Instagram led to numerous job opportunities, and through trial and error, they learnt to manage the business side of their craft.

Sticker Studios would like to extend their gratitude to The YOUNG ARROWS for collaborating with them on this special WOMEN IN FILM event.

For those interested in entering this year's Young Arrow, it’s open to anyone with less than three years’ experience in their current role. Submissions can be made across 18 distinct categories, and the winning work will be showcased this October at the inspiring awards show hosted by Reggie Yates at HERE at Outernet in central London.

Head here to download the Entry Pack. The entry deadline is Wednesday, 4th September.
