Agency wins first lion for "Chronicles of Threats"

Having been shortlisted for three consecutive years at Cannes, Saatchi & Saatchi  Belgrade office scooped a Bronze Lion in the Use of Media: Print category with the “Chronicles of Threats” campaign.

The award-winning campaign designed to encourage public debate and define methods of effective protection of journalists subjected to discrimination, aggression and violence, was a joint effort by

Saatchi & Saatchi Belgrade, the Commission for Investigation of Murders of Journalists, and the OSCE Office for Media Freedom.

"To win a Cannes Lion among the biggest global competition is quite a feat, and is bordered on the impossible for a small office like we are.  But the philosophy of our agency that 'Nothing is Impossible' has now been confirmed in the best way,'' said Veljko Golubovic, Executive Creative Director of Saatchi & Saatchi Belgrade.

Dunja Mijatović, OSCE Representative on Media Freedom, also spoke about the significance of the award: "This is wonderful news and a great tribute to the work of the Commission and the inventive approach to solving this problem. This commission is one of the best examples of cooperation between the government, journalists, and government agencies in the region. The biggest prize will be the final resolution of all murders and bringing to justice the perpetrators and those who gave the orders."

The campaign had a profound effect on both the general and professional public.  Fifteen years after the murder of Slavko Ćuruvija, the most influential independent journalist reporting during the Milošević regime, his assassins were arrested. “Chronicles of Threats” has also been instrumental in solving a 20 year-old case involving the then 30-year old journalist Radoslava Dada Vujasinović, who died in 1994.
