Marie Schuller Directs Orlebar Brown's 'Flights of Fantasy' Summer Campaign

'Flights of Fantasy' the Summer 2023 collection, from Orlebar Brown is built around the ideas of fanciful and unexpected. A place of make-believe, imagination, dreaming. Its carefree, romantic, pioneering, encouraging people to reinvent where they go and who they are, to get out of their heads and into their hearts.  

The campaign film, ‘Sunny’s Quest for a Simple Life’ is the latest in a long award-winning film and photography collaboration with RSA Films’ Marie Schuller.  

To launch the campaign Marie spoke to Orlebar Brown about how the inspiration, casting, location, and cultural references brought the film to life, as well as the challenge of fighting for your vision whilst relying only on your imagination and learning from missteps and the aesthetic crimes.  

“The stories fit the clothes! The clothes always come first; our stories only bring them to life…  If you make a film about fashion, the clothes must come first. Everything else is just a vision to enhance the collection’s own storyline,” said Marie. “What really strikes me about OB as a brand is that they are real storytellers. I find this unique and inspiring. Their garments are not just about the items of clothing, but the story behind them, they have a transformative and escapist quality. They author a million storylines that run through each collection and is assured in the way they talk about their garments”. 

Marie’s previous Orlebar Brown campaigns with RSA notably include the menswear brand’s 15th anniversary WHAM!- inspired capsule. Starring model Joran Barrett, the light-hearted triptych of films mirror the brand’s happy place of playful, colourful, flamboyanat, summer fun.
