Matt Cooper introduces LBB’s souped-up archive and shares an update on the journey to create the smartest free-to-view online library in the industry

We are super excited to say that the ‘Credits’ area on Little Black Book’s Creative Library launches in beta today (see here for the original announcement of what we are building with The Creative Library, and how it could influence that way you work).

This beta phase will see us further tidying your data, cleaning up credits, and tagging people/talent, such as creatives, directors and colourists, to their correct company. It won’t take long, but we want to make sure that you, our readers and users, are aware of what we’re working on and that this is a beta launch.

This launch is really all about the credits. Every piece of ‘Creative’ news on LBB and each piece of work in The Creative Library now has credits that are live and clickable. What does that mean for you? It’s going to make it much easier to find companies and talent to collaborate with - and if you are part of a member company, it’s going to make it even easier to be found.

To keep you up to date, this is everything we’ve done so far:

  • We have keyed in the 1.4 million credits that our users and partners have shared over the years via press releases and work uploads.
  • These credits now all become totally clickable so you and the 400,000+ monthly users of LBB can now view and interact with this content free.
  • This means that you can truly drill through any information on our site, discovering the talent, companies and brands doing the work most relevant to you.
  • You can see the work history of a company or a person. Check out what these credits start to look like at the bottom of this story here - and see what happens when you start clicking about on these credits.
  • LBB members listed in credits now click directly through to their company page.

With this large chunk of the build completed - although in beta - we are now moving to phase two.

Phase two involves cleaning all the credits further and tying talent to company members. You will see this happen as you go and any users with a Managed Package will see this happen faster (you will of course get priority). Please bear with us as we polish up some of this stuff - we welcome your feedback and are happy to show you how it works and discuss what we’re doing. This really is the time to get your work in the library as tens of thousands of people are already viewing it. What we can prove, quite simply, is that, yes, great news gets you seen, but our users really want to see your work, old and new. So,  please upload your older and more current work there OR allow us to do it for you with the Managed Package.

Once this is done, we will deliver two more features that we think will completely blow your mind, along with a whole new look and feel coming too.

But for now, we are launching one of the first ever free-to-view creative archives with clickable credits. Uploading a piece of work will take you a little more effort (some of you may have noticed this), but this site will now help you be found in a bunch of new ways and help your business (and people). And again, we can do all this uploading for you.

This is one of the most exciting things I have worked on since we launched LBB and I’m super proud to say we are going to deliver something that doesn’t exist elsewhere. And this really is just the start. Our aim with this is very simple: we will become a way to track almost everything in advertising, a bit like the IMDb of advertising.

Remember for now, this is all beta, as we further clean the data really for the all new functionality coming shortly.

What we know is that many brands/companies/agencies find the company they want to work with through the talent they read about, so let’s make sure that you are all tagged beautifully and ready for all to see.

Make sure you get all your best work into The Creative Library as soon as you can. If you need us to help just let us know. We’d LOVE to talk.
