Cali joined The Den in 2020

Women-owned bicoastal edit house The Den has promoted editor Katie Cali to Partner. Cali joined The Den in 2020 and will now bring her impressive creative experience and acumen to this expanded role. As an editor, Cali is well known as a natural collaborator with flawless comedic instincts, as well as an ability to create powerful, emotionally resonant stories across genres.

Cali joined The Den soon after the company’s 2020 launch, quickly establishing herself as a powerful creative force and highly valued perspective within their ranks. As Partner, she will work closely with The Den’s Founders, Rachel Seitel and Christjan Jordan, and fellow Partners, Vic Palumbo and Tobias Suhm, to further develop The Den’s brand, profile, and reputation as one of the foremost leaders in creative editorial.

With her seemingly effortless and intuitive flow, Cali makes each project a distinctive journey. She has edited for clients and agencies on everything from national commercials to social media content. Global brands she has collaborated with include Beats by Dre with Billie Eilish, Samsung, Reebok, Google, Under Armour, Disney, and Lincoln; and agencies such as MAL/TBWA, BBH, Saatchi, 72andsunny, GSD&M, and VMLY&R. Cali has worked with illustrious directors like Martin Granger, Jake Szymanski, Wayne McClammy, JJ Adler, Fatal Farm, Rohan Blair-Mangat, Danny Boyle, Clayton Vomero, and Rupert Smith, on everything from spots to documentaries. Most recently, she cut Uber Eats’ Super Bowl spot with Jennifer Coolidge and she was one of the editors for the latest AppleTV ad with Jon Hamm.

Cali worked with director Martin Granger on a recent international, multi-platform commercial campaign for Afterpay starring comedy legend Rebel Wilson. On working with Cali, Granger says: “From the very beginning, Katie was involved in visualizing the project and understanding what the client and I needed. She was even kind enough to join us on set for the shoot, allowing her to totally capture the spirit of fun that I always try to bring to my sets and my work. So, if you’re thinking of cutting some comedy spots, I really recommend adding Katie Cali into the mix. I certainly plan to. And how lucky is The Den to have been able to snap her up as a partner? I’d say very!”

Vic Palumbo, president/managing director, says: “We’re illustrating our dedication to the growth and enrichment of our business with the addition of Katie as a Partner. I’m thrilled that we have taken this step to strengthen our team and realise our vision for the future of The Den.”

Rachel Seitel, co-founder of The Den, says: “Katie’s talent is undeniable. Her energy is amazing and she’s been such a huge part of The Den’s success and growth. Her Partnership is so well deserved. I’m also thrilled to add another woman to the leadership of The Den.”

“I feel extremely fortunate to tell stories for a living and to work closely with people who inspire me,” says Cali. “I’m very excited to accept this new opportunity and to have a voice in the future of this stellar group of creatives and leaders.”
