Dark Energy Films announces the arrival of executive producer, Lauraine Bhuglah.
With years of experience spanning creative agencies, production, and post-production, Lauraine has worked on countless high-calibre projects across multiple platforms. Lauraine’s journey began at Woof Films, followed by positions at Publicis and the Central Office of Information (COI), where she began her producing career. Having both agency and production experience gives Lauraine perceptive insight into changing industry dynamics, including a vital understanding of the crucial role the contemporary independent production company can continue to play in today’s advertising terrain.
We won’t call her a rockstar. Nobody in advertising should be referred to as a rockstar. Ever. But she’s pretty damn great. Lauraine has worked with some of the most celebrated agencies in the biz, including Fallon during its glory years, and later gained key experience in offline & post-production at Big Buoy. She also was part of the key team which set up the production arm for Jaguar Land Rover at Tag Worldwide, before taking on a senior role as an executive producer at Saatchi & Saatchi.
At Rock Hound (the in-house production arm at Tag/Smoke & Mirrors ) she led content creation and worked direct to brand, managing key client accounts firsthand. Most recently, Lauraine spent three years as a partner and executive producer at Armoury London, continuing her work with agencies and directly with brands and most recently executive produced at the academy award winning audio sound house, Wave studios London.
Matt Brown (founder and MD of Dark Energy) expressed his excitement over the appointment, “Lauraine and I have known each other professionally & personally for years and have wanted to work together for a long time. Finally, the stars have aligned and I’m thrilled to officially welcome her to the Dark Energy family. Her depth of experience across the production spectrum, from agency roles to post-production, is a perfect fit for us. She will undoubtedly play a key role in driving our creative vision forward and expanding our end-to-end capabilities.”
In her new role, Lauraine will work closely with Dark Energy’s expansive roster of directors to bring content to life, overseeing projects from concept to completion. She will also mentor emerging talent, helping to cultivate the next generation of creative producers. Lauraine's end-to-end production expertise and leadership will be instrumental in elevating the company’s direct to brand services.
Dark Energy is now a three headed-beast; between the versatile production dexterity of Phil Barnes across music vids and commercials, Matt’s business acumen and understanding of the industry landscape at large, and Lauraine’s breadth of experience throughout the advertising universe, her arrival at Dark Energy signals an exciting new chapter for the company.
