Editing and post production company, Cartel has marked an exciting period of growth by officially expanding in the east coast, opening a dedicated New York studio and promoting Sophia Lou from editor to partner to assist in leading the branch.
Founded in Santa Monica, Cartel has been leading the way in commercial editing since 2016, working with clients such as Apple, Squarespace, LinkedIn, Mazda and Toyota and boasting an enviable roster of award winning editors.
With a well established presence on the east coast, thanks to the clients it works with and projects it has been involved in, the time was right for Cartel to officially open its own dedicated studio space in the city. Located in Chinatown New York, the studio is vibrant and welcoming, surrounded by an array of popular bars and restaurants, and the best part - its own private roof terrace with an impressive view of the city's skyline.
The office is led by partner Adam Robinson, Evyn Bruce, executive producer in New York, and newly promoted partner Sophia Lou, who joined Cartel back in 2022 and quickly made her mark as a leader within the studio. Heavily involved in Cartel’s overarching branding, social media presence and overall company culture, she’s a welcome addition to the studio’s core leadership team.
As part of Cartel, Sophia has been involved in a number of stand-out projects, including the Emmy-nominated, first ever Super Bowl spot from pet food brand The Farmer’s Dog in 2023, and P&G’s ‘The Name’ campaign.
Sophia Lou, partner and editor, commented, “I’m thrilled to step into this new chapter as a partner at Cartel, surrounded by a team whose talents and creativity constantly inspire me. It's a privilege to be part of a company that elevates one another, embraces the unknown, and isn’t afraid to shake things up. I can’t wait to see what we create together for the future of Cartel.”
Adam Robinson, partner, added, “In addition to being a terrifically versatile editor, Sophia is a natural leader and has brought so much to the company beyond her editing work. She’s a huge part of what we’ve been doing in NYC and it was an easy decision to promote her to partner.”
