Ben Pobjoy is an award-winning author, emerging filmmaker, record-breaking marathoner, inspiring keynote speaker … and Weber Shandwick Canada’s new creative leader. In a move that dials up its earned-first approach, the agency has named Ben Pobjoy as its executive creative director.
A culture-obsessed creative powerhouse, Ben has worked with some of the biggest brands, athletes, actors and artists on the planet. His global pedigree as the ECD of a national marketing agency, an international record label, an American entertainment publication and a Canadian art gallery underscores the leadership and creative prowess he brings to the Weber team.
His most recent industry work includes leading the Creative team at Behaviour, where he worked on brands like Air Canada, Coors Light, Kellogg’s, Molson Canadian, PepsiCo, RBC, Starbucks and Telus.
“Ben is an inspiring leader who deeply understands the moment and how to earn attention. Both personally and professionally, his experiences are living proof that he’s all about making bold moves, that create outsized impact for our clients,” said Greg Power, president and CEO, Weber Shandwick Canada. “Working across art, music, film and media, he’s demonstrated deep creative dimension and the ability to move to the pace of culture. That’s the new energy, fresh thinking and adaptability he’ll bring to the creating the work that leads the narrative.”
Ben is not just a creative leader, but also a real-world creator. In 2022, he left the marketing industry and bet his professional reputation on his own creative project, 2023’s Marathon Earth Challenge, where he documented his attempt to claim the Guinness World Record for most freestyle marathons completed in one year. After completing 242 marathons in 70 countries – unofficially besting the world record of 239 – a book deal, brand collabs and nearly 100 million media impressions worth of headlines, Ben took on his next challenge.
His 2024 short film The Brown Dog — starring Michael K. Williams and Steve Buscemi — premiered at the Tribeca Festival and earned a Variety exclusive when Chiwetel Ejiofor and Idris Elba joined the project as executive producers.
“In marketing and life, nothing is given. Everything is earned,” said Ben. “My scrappy indie ethos merged with the depth and talent of a global leader like Weber Shandwick and the most enviable group clients in the industry is going to be a game-changing combination.”
Ben’s hire continues the agency’s momentum after its third consecutive year of record growth in Canada. The agency has already made 11 new hires in 2025, after adding more than 30 staff in 2024.
