The 41st Annual One Show Awards recently announced this year's winners, with VML and the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation taking home a Gold Pencil for the documentary, "For the Love of Music: The Story of Nashville."
The One Show honors the best in advertising, design, interactive, branded entertainment, and intellectual property and products. The worldwide competition is judged by 31 of the advertising industry's most esteemed professionals.
"For VML to be recognized with a Gold Pencil is an honor. It's one of the top awards in our industry," said John Godsey, VML executive creative director. "But to do it working with such amazing clients, promoting the coolest city in America - and pushing the boundaries of what defines advertising - well, that's a once-in-a-career opportunity."
"For the Love of Music" was one of 97 Gold Pencil winners that emerged from 21,300 submissions from 63 countries. The Gold Pencil for the documentary was awarded in the Branded Entertainment discipline, which included 69 finalists from 45 agencies and 15 countries.

In the film, the story behind the Nashville music scene is told through the eyes of many of the musicians, songwriters, producers and artists who live and breathe its inspiration.
"This film was a true passion, a work of love. VML and Nashville collaborated flawlessly to tell a story long overdue," said Butch Spyridon, President, Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation. "Can't wait for volume 2."
VML also received a Silver Pencil for the ereader app bookly in the Mobile: Services/Utilities category and a Bronze Pencil for Wendy's Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger Love Songs in the Best Branded Social Campaign category.
