Publicis Toronto in collaboration with Visa Canada, a world leader in digital payments, presents its new creative work aimed at educating consumers on the ability to pay online with a Visa Debit card. The 30 second holiday spot, featuring Canada’s own Fashion Santa, will air from November 14th to December 24th with several OOH and digital/social executions, notably in theatres and on TikTok.
In developing the campaign, Publicis Toronto tapped into the purchasing habits of Canadians. They found that many people like to pay for purchases with the money they already have in their bank account but they don’t realise they can do this by using Visa Debit when shopping online.
“Because this was an educational brief, it was important that our idea be fun and memorable. So we brought a website to life and used iconic spokespeople to communicate our message right at the moment of online checkout” said Joanna Monteiro, chief creative officer at Publicis Toronto.
The 'Fashion Santa' spot features a young woman in her pjs at night, shopping online for a gift for her partner. As she’s about to check-out, Fashion Santa, the model on the website, literally comes to life on her screen. Caught by surprise, the shopper learns that if she pays with her Visa Debit the money will come right out of her bank account.
For the holiday campaign in English Canada, Publicis partnered with Canadian icon Fashion Santa, aka Paul Mason; and for the always-on campaigns, Ivory Towers, a Toronto-based Drag Queen, and Barbada, a Montreal-based Drag Artist.
