David Ramos becomes the latest addition to the Rodeo FX team. Hailing from Spain, he joins the Montreal headquarters behind the visual effects of Stranger Things, Black Adam and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
David is an award-winning VFX supervisor who takes pride in his work being a source of entertainment. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, he has worked on TV hits including four seasons of HBO’s blockbuster Game of Thrones, where he won an Emmy, VES, and HPA award for his work as VFX Supervisor on season seven. He has also worked on season three of Westworld, and Netflix’s season one of Shadow and Bone.
“I’m lucky enough to be passionate about my job. At the end of a crazy day, I’m just proud of being able to look back and enjoy the images my team and I produced”, says David. “I always say that if we as artists love a project, the audience will too.”
His career began in 1995 as a CG artist after graduating from the University Complutense de Madrid. Four years later, he co-founded his own VFX production company, MiopiaFX, where he oversaw many roles including CG supervisor, animation director, and senior artist. During his 18 years at the company, he also held the position of VFX supervisor at El Ranchito where he worked on such projects as season two of Lost in Space, and season one and two of Locke & Key.
“Ramos is someone that has been close to the studio and our artists for a long time. Working together on Game of Thrones from afar was a great experience and the perfect preparation for his arrival,” says Mikael Damant-Sirois, VP creative operations at Rodeo FX.
