Scott Brisbane joins as art director to bring world-building expertise and creative leadership to the team

Rodeo FX has announced the arrival of Scott Brisbane as art director, based in the Los Angeles studio of the international creative company behind the visual effects of Amazon’s The Rings of Power, and HBO’ s House of the Dragon, and the upcoming second seasons of Netflix’s Wednesday and The Sandman.

Known for his remarkable artistry and collaborative spirit, Scott brings a unique blend of world-building expertise and creative leadership to the team. With a background that bridges matte painting and lighting, Scott has developed an exceptional ability to create immersive, atmospheric environments that push storytelling to new heights. His artistic and technical skills brought him to work on widely-acclaimed productions such as How To Train Your Dragon, Avengers: Endgame, War for the Planet of the Apes, and the Avatar franchise.

Throughout his career, Scott has built a reputation not just for his technical mastery, but for his unwavering positivity and team-first mindset. "One of my superpowers is positivity - no matter how challenging a project gets, I believe we can achieve anything if we pull together," Scott shared.

Scott brings with him an exceptional career spanning more than two decades across both animation and VFX, specialising in matte painting, lighting, and world-building artistry. During his time at DreamWorks Animation, Scott contributed to some of the studio’s most beloved franchises, including Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon, Shrek, and The Croods. His passion for storytelling and innovation led him to explore new formats, working notably on the Disney Park ride Avatar: Flight of Passage for Weta FX, and on ground breaking game cinematics for Diablo IV and World of Warcraft at Blizzard Entertainment.

Recently, Scott returned to the Avatar universe, contributing to the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash as an asset and environment supervisor, before joining Rodeo FX.

"Rodeo has been an inspiration to me from the beginning. Their focus on world-building aligns perfectly with my passion. I'm excited to join a team where creating immersive new worlds is at the heart of everything we do,” tells Scott.

"We are thrilled to welcome Scott into our art department! I'm certain that Scott will bring a wealth of creativity to all of Rodeo's projects, working closely with the VFX supervisors as an art director and concept artist. His broad artistic input will be met with great enthusiasm,” says Deak Ferrand, head of art department at Rodeo FX.
