The awards celebrated 2021’s best of the industry, with Uncommon Creative Studio being awarded two of the coveted awards: Creative Agency of the Year – for the second year running – and Independent Agency of the Year, which they previously won in 2019. But this is the first time a company has ever received both accolades.
Uncommon’s highlights across the year included more than 20 new-business wins, with one being the high-profile pitch for British Airways’ global creative and CRM business.
Key pieces of work from the studio included a new intiative for H&M Man, One/Second/Suit which offered men with a job interview, in the UK or US, the chance to rent a suit for free, for 24 hours. And prevalent work for Google capturing a fragile moment as Britain emerged from another year of pandemic in the moving campaign titled ‘What are you searching for this Summer?’ The work drove emotion back into the brand’s most powerful feature: the power and act of Search. And a second project titled ‘Hands Raised’ celebrating the power of questions and search to build understanding and unity.
Uncommon continued to improve diversity, tripling its BAME representation since 2019 to 15% and reaching 60% female representation at management level and 51% overall.
The judging panel consisted of leading brand marketers from across the UK chaired by Sky’s group chief marketing, corporate affairs, and people officer Debbie Klein.
Other winners on the night included Neverland named Start-up of the Year and Goodstuff Communications coming out on top as Media Agency of the Year.
