The Play Room’s editor Nick Allix has recently cut
this hilarious long form film for a new KitKat bar “Double Caramel”. Written by JWT’s Jason Berry and directed by Mischa Manson-Smith from Rogue, this online film is charmingly dry and funny.
Our hero Martin Mahogany is the world’s first “Splactor”; an actor who plays 2 characters at the same time. This new style of acting which he has termed ‘Splacting’ entails wearing 2 character outfits at the same time whilst mastering the technique of a 180 turn.
Shot on 2 cameras in 1 day on locations in and around Pinewood Studios this 2 and a half minute online film follows our hero through various staged set ups and interviews him between takes to find out more about this unique ‘splacting technique’, which on occasions is reminiscent of the much lauded and fun show Extras.
Nick’s characteristically humorous edit adds fun and charm and complements the great performance of the character.
On his involvement in the project, Nick comments, “it was an interesting project because there was so much ad-lib footage that gave us a lot of good material to work from. Being spoilt for choice with great rushes makes the edit that much more of a challenge. This is a good problem to be faced with so it was a great job to work on”.
