The Mayda Creative Co. is thrilled to announce the addition of Adrian Yu, a distinguished Chinese-American director, creative director, and installation artist, to its collective.
Born in New York and raised in Los Angeles within a family of Hong Kongese immigrants, Adrian's artistic journey began at a young age in his father's renowned motion graphics studio. While pursuing film writing at NYU's cinema studies program, Adrian embarked on his career by directing fashion films. His passion for visual storytelling led him to graduate early and become a copywriter-art director at SID LEE.
During his tenure there, Adrian directed spots for brands such as Adidas, Porsche, and Def Jam. His creative prowess expanded as he went on to creatively direct, design, and produce campaigns, films, experiences, and digital platforms for Nike, Gucci, Sega, Amazon, NHL, and Spotify. Adrian's exceptional talent also extends to the cinematic realm, having crafted title sequences for Zack Snyder's 'Justice League' and Michael Mann’s 'Tokyo Vice.'
Zu Al-Kadiri, Mayda’s co-Founder and executive producer, expressed his excitement about Adrian joining the team, commenting, "We are so happy to welcome Adrian to Mayda. His proven expertise as a conceptual creative thinker, fascinated by new media platforms, fused with his exquisite design and animation sensibilities, is incredibly exciting. I have no doubt he will be a valuable collaborator across the wide range of projects flowing into Mayda."
Adrian says of the partnership, ‘Mayda’s untraditional ethos at the crossroads between storytelling, art, and technology is really exciting in this evolving landscape for content and experience. I’m excited to partner up with Mayda to push the envelope forward with new modes of film and creative technology.’
