Rats, your days of sidewalk supremacy are over. Meet “The Janklet”, the bold new ankle jewellery designed to help New Yorkers strut through the city without fear of a furry surprise interrupting precious wedding proposals, outdoor meals, or daily commutes. Equally street-smart and stylish, the Janklet lets you walk with confidence and flair; perfect for anyone fed up with NYC’s rat problem.
Developed by creative agency SuperHeroes as part of its ongoing efforts ‘Saving NY From…’, the Janklet is more than just another accessory–it’s a solution– because with a population of 3 million, there is now one rat for every two people. And since New Yorkers love their street style, each anklet has handmade bells cast in a beautiful brass finish, crafted by local jewellery designer Daniel Jewellery Casting. The design is both eye-catching and effective at keeping rats away.
“We’re happy to provide a fashionable solution to the city’s rat abundance,” said Rogier Vijverberg, chief creative hero at SuperHeroes. “The Janklet’s rat-defending brilliance lies in its simplicity.”
To introduce it, SuperHeroes hit the streets to interview real New Yorkers, capturing their hilariously honest rat encounters. Partnering with NYC-based photographer Sophie Ming and model Cassie Daly, the Brooklyn-based creative agency also created a scroll-stopping editorial photo series. Shot against the gritty, vibrant backdrop of lower Manhattan, the photos highlight the Janklet’s chic design and everyday practicality, proving it’s as much a fashion statement as a rat-defender.
Rats hate it, you’ll love it. Fit Check? The Janklet is now available for purchase at theboringstore.shop.
