The soundtrack was composed by Elements to draw the viewer right into the heart of the action

Land Rover has revealed the world’s most anticipated car, the iconic new Land Rover Defender at The Frankfurt Motor Show. The Elements Music created a cinematic, epic, powerful, original score for its adventurous and entertaining reveal film.

Imagination, in partnership with Carnage, created the epic product reveal film that introduces the new Defender to the world and brings to life its proposition: 'Capable of Great Things’. The film was shot in Kazakhstan, one of the most land-locked places on earth, where the new Defender, driven by mountaineer Kenton Cool, can be seen tackling rivers and descending mountain edges - a narrative that required a bespoke score.

Andy Carroll of The Elements Music tells how ‘We were to craft a powerful, cinematic score that skilfully infused rhythms and instruments from around the world that didn’t particularly place the listener into any one continent or country. We sourced stringed instruments from Eastern Europe and open tuned small guitars and a mandolin to create an Eastern European sound.

Selective use of percussion and rhythms steered the film on a fine balance between ethnic and cinematic. A real drum kit was incorporated for the second half of the film to add energy and build with a jaw harp to add to the feel and overblown flute with Morricone style bells for some pathos and dry humour.’

Greg Hobden, digital producer at Imagination: “We thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with The Elements on the score for this epic reveal film - Andy delivered in spades"

Director, Mark Jenkinson said: “Working with The Elements is always a collaborative journey. For the Defender ‘Reveal film’, I really wanted a soundtrack that was like the Kazakhstan landscape, epic but crucially, entertaining as well. The composers scored the visual narrative perfectly with drama and scale but also managed to add warmth to the film which I felt was really important to pull viewers in.”
