The Commissioners Announce SHOWstudio Film Showcase and Live Panel Discussion
On May 18 2017, The Commissioners welcomes SHOWstudio to Picturehouse Central for a live panel and screenings that will focus on SHOWstudio’s finest fashion films. Head of Fashion Film Raquel Couceiro, Nick Knight's First Assistant Brit Lloyd, and Junior Editor Georgina Evans will sit on The Commissioners’ panel for insights on the production powerhouse that is SHOWstudio and its role as a pioneer of the fashion film medium.
The event will focus on understanding the position of film within the fashion industry, how fashion film has evolved and will continue to grow, and the relevance of narrative within this medium. Specifically, the panel will address SHOWstudio’s approach to emotionally charged video content, ranging from relationship and loss to fashion’s complicated connection with overt femininity.
The films screened have been selected by SHOWstudio and will address the political role of fashion, its relationship with leading public figures within the creative industries and how film is often part of larger projects which include essays, still photography and music playlists.
Commenting on the next session of The Commissioners, founder Niccolò Montanari stated: “I’m very flattered and pleased to be welcoming SHOWstudio and its team for the next session of The Commissioners. RAQUEL COUCEIRO - Head of Fashion Film
As SHOWstudio's Head of Fashion Film, Raquel Couceiro works directly with Nick Knight to create, edit and commission fashion films and interviews for the site. Couceiro is responsible for representing SHOWstudio at international fashion film festivals, communicating with filmmakers and contributors, managing all fashion film submissions and maintaining and developing SHOWstudio's reputation as the Home of Fashion Film. Couceiro utilises a breadth of film techniques, strong visual languages and multimedia in her work in order to challenge traditional boundaries.
GEORGINA EVANS - Junior Editor
Georgina Evans is Junior Editor of SHOWstudio. She has written for several magazines, websites and blogs, including Dazed, Cause & Effect and fashion156.com, writing about fashion, opinion, art, music and culture. After graduating in Fashion Journalism from the University of Creative Arts, Evans gained experience at a variety of fashion establishments before joining the editorial team at SHOWstudio in 2015.
In addition to managing SHOWstudio’s social media presence, Evans writes, commissions and edits the predominance of the site’s text, including collections coverage, essays and interviews, as well as generating and planning project concepts and building relationships with contributors.
BRIT LLOYD - Nick Knight's First Assistant
As Nick Knight's First Assistant, Britt Lloyd works closely alongside Knight and SHOWstudio to provide camera and photographic assistance on all of his projects. Initially interested in still imagery, since working with Knight, Lloyd has developed an attraction and skill set towards cinematography and fashion film. Lloyd has worked as Director of Photography for the likes of filmmaker Rei Nadal, Menswear Designer Martine Rose and Footwear brand Nicholas Kirkwood.
