Local Bizzarro, a forward-thinking production company based in the Conero Natural Park on Italy’s Adriatic coast, has collaborated with experimental design hub Terraformæ to produce a compelling video for Milan Design Week 2025. This creative partnership brings together Local Bizzarro’s expertise in sustainable, decentralised film production and Terraformæ’s innovative vision of terracotta as a material of the future. Recognised by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development & Culture through the Creative Enterprise Fund, Local Bizzarro continues to blend environmental responsibility with creativity, making them an ideal partner to visually narrate Terraformæ’s unique design philosophy.
Terraformæ, the contemporary offshoot of the historic Fornace Sant’Anselmo, acts as a bridge between manufacturing tradition and contemporary experimentation. At Milan Design Week 2025, the studio presents a bold and evolving vision of terracotta, shaped through collaborations with international designers and researchers. The video by Local Bizzarro delves into this unique dynamic, shedding light on the relationship between Terraformæ and the production powerhouse of Fornace Sant’Anselmo. Through a visually rich narrative, the film explores not only the conceptual foundations of each design but also the technical processes that bring them to life, highlighting themes like sustainability, modularity, and the evolution of form through digital fabrication.
As stated in the video, “The idea behind Terraformae is to be an independent research lab, independent, connected to a company with enormous production capabilities, capable of creating both large-scale series and much more tailored pieces.” This tension between experimentation and production is at the heart of the video’s narrative - and of Terraformæ’s innovative identity.
The video, directed by Mattia Fiumani with cinematography by Giacomo La Monaca and Fiumani himself, sound design by Andrea Gobbi, and produced by Local Bizzarro, offers an immersive window into Terraformæ’s ethos. It captures the tactile beauty of clay in transformation, highlighting the convergence of tradition and innovation, and underscoring Terraformæ’s role as a hub for research and design.
