TBWA, a world-leading advertising and communications company, is continuing its partnership with a leading nation-wide weekly magazine “Modern Weekly” to run a series of three seminars themed ‘Let’s Talk Disruption’ in China.
The seminars will be held in Shanghai, a major center of new business activity and creativity for the TBWA network. They will attract both global and local thought-leaders from a variety of industries and backgrounds.
This May, the first of the series, ‘Let’s Talk Disruption – Luxury’, will focus on the luxury sector in China, looking at key trends and insights that will help the sector thrive.
In August, ‘Let’s Talk Disruption – Youth’ will examine all aspects of the youth audience and youth marketing in China.
Finally, in September, ‘Let’s Talk Disruption – Wellness’ will focus on the growing trends of health and wellbeing in the market, covering fitness, nutrition, beauty and more.
“TBWA has practiced Disruption and Media Arts for many years with brands such as Apple, Nissan, adidas, Pernod Ricard and McDonald’s. We know that a Disruption strategy can really help companies drive growth here in China,” said Ian Thubron, President TBWA\ Greater China. “Through ‘Let’s Talk Disruption’, together with Modern Weekly, we want to bring some of those learnings to the broader business community in China. Our first seminar was a great success in 2011, so we’re delighted to be expanding the programme in 2012.”
The first ‘Let’s Talk Disruption’ seminar was held in May 2011 in Shanghai, in partnership with Modern Weekly. The event featured speakers and cases of global renown from TBWA, Modern Media, Standard Chartered Bank, Shang Xia, Pernod Ricard, Gatorade and more. Speakers shared their perspectives and insights on how innovation and thinking differently has helped them achieve exponential growth and success in the fast-changing China market.
The hugely successful event in 2011 attracted over 350 delegates, encouraging both TBWA and Modern Weekly to expand their efforts to encourage innovation and unconventional thinking in business and endeavor in China.
Commenting on the event last year, Rocky Liang, Modern Media’s Creative Director for Life Magazine said, “This event was the first of its kind and the presentations very inspiring to me and, I believe, to the audience. It’s great that TBWA is now bringing its global expertise to China and refusing to compromise on its methods when completing clients’ work. They will lead the advertising and marketing industry to new and exciting places.”
