Sustainability in Action: Celebrating 1 Year of ESG Mark Certification Excellence

LS’s ESG certification is supported by our Board and team, with Laura Coulthart, people and operations manager spearheading actions relating to improving our processes and policies.  Achieving the ESG Mark certification has been a cornerstone of our company-wide ambitions. The certification underscores our commitment to continuous improvement, not only in our internal operations but also in our broader industry and community.

The ESG Mark certification process has encouraged us to critically evaluate our practices and identify areas where we can make meaningful, lasting changes. This has led to a heightened awareness of our environmental impact and a deeper understanding of our social and governance responsibilities. We are proud of the progress we have made, but recognise that there is always more to be done.

We believe that our commitment to ESG principles will not only benefit our company but will, and already do, have a positive impact on our clients, our employees, and the communities in which we operate. We are dedicated to being a leader in sustainable business practices and to inspiring others in our industry to follow suit.

Over the past 12 months, we have implemented or engaged with a number of ESG initiatives. Some of these that we are most proud of include establishing relationships with organisations and programmes where several  members of our team have been able to give insight to school and University aged individuals into our industry. A favourite example was hosting 20 High School aged pupils via the Developing Young Workforce at our office in Edinburgh for an introductory session to our industry as well as a question and answer opportunity. 

This summer, LS Productions is also proud to be working with the Saltire Scholarship and place a student in an internship position with a focus on integrating AI into our current processes. 

We have also listened to our team when it comes to having meaningful conversations around staff satisfaction and professional development, and have reviewed our annual review as a result. Moving forward from this summer, reviews will take place once a quarter, and be an opportunity for employees to discuss both of these points with their Line Managers. 

One of our values is Creative at Heart, and an area of LS Productions ESG performance that has been challenging to improve has been the ability to increase capturing of Scope 3 Carbon consumption. However, we are hopeful that with new Financial reporting procedures in place and external support that we may be able to further improve accuracy on the data already captured, which could lead to additional Scope 3 categories being included.  

Never one to sit still, LS Productions is always looking to learn and continue our ESG journey. LS Productions has been able to be included in several supplier rosters in part due to our ESG Mark certification. We now must continue to review our own suppliers, ensuring that they themselves are making inroads relating to ESG credentials. 

We’re also working on a revised LS handbook that is being worked on with the ambition to share this with the team in the summer. This is off the back of the introduction of new procedures in the work place as well as new and revised policies, ensuring the team has the best support network in place. 

With a year of ESG Mark certification under our belt, LS Productions remains committed to continuous improvement and leadership in sustainable business practices. As we refine our processes LS Productions is poised to further solidify our position as a responsible and forward-thinking leader in the media production industry.
