Studio Output has created a new brand identity for the BBC's Connected Studio; a new global initiative that combines external expertise with internal insights, developing new features, formats and experiences for audiences worldwide.
BBC Connected invites both internal staff and external digital agencies, technology startups and individual designers and developers to collaborate in Connected Studio events and workshops. During the course of the workshops experimental ideas can be pitched, built and delivered in an open, collaborative environment that’s responsive to the big data challenge of connecting platforms, products and audiences.
Studio Output worked with BBC Connected Studio to create a completely new brand identity that represents their values and energy in a confident and engaging way,and feeds into BBC Taster, their parent brand.
They developed the idea of Connected Studio being where institutional support and maverick thought-provoking ideas come together – and brought this idea to life throughout the visual identity.
Part of the identity is made up by a suite of illustrated interlocking C and S letters. The C is always rendered in a solid and consistent form whereas the S takes on a more experimental nature, hinting at the different outputs of Connect Studio. Depending on the type of situation it’s being applied to, this graphic element can be swapped and changed to suit the mood while retaining brand consistency.
