“When I set up Sticker Studios I always wanted to champion the women, because the 16 year old girl in me who was working in the lighting department knew that I was alone in there, carrying the flight cases and connecting cables. Not many women I knew were going technical and I didn't understand why, so whenever I meet amazing female talent I'm fascinated to think... well, what did you do to get here too?” Harleymoon intro’s Women in Film.
Sticker Studios' aim is to foster and create a platform for pioneering female talent within the industry. The team at Sticker Studios strive for diversity behind the camera and nurture our roster of female directors.
Sticker Studios's bi-monthly screening 'Women in Film' celebrates and showcases remarkable female talent across the industry. By championing diversity and inclusion the team's goal is to provide visibility and opportunities for women filmmakers. Through these screenings, the team at Sticker Studios aim to inspire and encourage the next generation of female talent to pursue their dreams and make their mark in the industry.
Last Wednesday, Sticker Studios had the incredible opportunity to host the event in collaboration with the award-winning audio post-production company 750mph. The evening was a full house with some phenomenal speakers.
Giselle, sound engineer, began her career as an audio assistant in 2013 and has steadily climbed the ranks in the industry. Initially working on documentaries and long-form content, she later discovered her true passion for advertising during her time at Craft/McCann. Since joining 750mph in 2021, Giselle's impressive portfolio includes impactful documentaries, fun celeb-filled spots, and work on the multi-award-winning "Periodsomnia" campaign for Bodyform.
Amelia Hazlerigg, a director of photography with a background in art history, has always had an eye for composition. She started her career in fashion, performing various roles within a fashion brand. Once she discovered her true passion behind the lens, she quit her job, worked at a burger joint to save up, and travelled to Brazil. Her go-getter attitude led her to become the only female DOP at a production company, travelling around Brazil documenting the World Cup. Since then, she has filmed for brands like Yorkshire Tea, The Body Shop, and various short films.
The team at Sticker Studios loved hearing from the ever-inspiring creative Liy Grant at Mother. Liy’s ambition led her to a roll in payroll as she wanted to chase where the ‘money was’, her roll was in an advertising agency and her curiosity led her to ask the creatives in her building what they do as it seemed fun! She then quit her job to go back to study to come back to the industry but this time into the creative department. She has thrived in her field, creating works for brands like Ikea, Uber, and H&M at Mother.
The team at Sticker Studios thanks everyone who supported the event. It’s always wonderful to hear about the opportunities and connections made. Much love to everyone involved.
