Sticker Studios Announces Jen Gillen as Head of Production

Sticker Studios announces the arrival of their new head of production Jen Gillen. Ex agency producer, Jen is the perfect fit for the progressive energy of Sticker Studios and brings a wealth of experience that will benefit Stickers creative partners and roster alike.

Sticker Studios caught up with Jen to ask what Sticker Studios means to her.

“Having come from the Agency/ Brand side, I’ve been lucky enough to have worked with London’s expansive roster of production companies. When looking for Directors, as brilliant as the bigger companies are, I have always been drawn to those smaller ones, the hidden gems.

The home of the next up-and-coming talent, who are just waiting for the chance to sink their teeth into an exciting script. Sticker was just that. An engaging roster of emerging directors, led by two powerhouses, that offer something unique, and are only going to get bigger and better.

I had never thought of returning to my production company roots, however, one meeting with Harleymoon and Luke, and I was enamoured. I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into, but I knew I wanted to work with them. Our visions aligned, along with our work ethos, goals and inclusive expectations of the future in filmmaking. Their strict ‘no working with dickheads’ policy was the clincher.

The biggest challenge overlooked production companies face isn’t getting through the door to agencies and brands, as delightedly, people are just as eager as ever to be introduced to new talent. However, the arduous step is getting the client/ creatives/ producers to trust their gut and take a chance on lesser-known directors. Earning the valued time of industry disrupters is vital, but actually putting words into action is game-changing. Offering new talent the opportunity to treat alongside Industry favourites, knowing their team will need to sell them a little bit harder, can quickly become disheartening and lead to disengagement.

I want to prove that it shouldn’t take bravery and risk to work with underestimated companies, it should just take imagination and trust. We are a small family, and trust is key. It’s my job to push my way through that door, knock it off its hinges and show everyone exactly what I know Sticker can do.

We also have some new exciting signings to announce later this year, and I want to keep pushing for diverse talent alongside our incredible rep, Viv.
