NORD DDB launches 'Open Air, Open Roads' together with Škoda, featuring a clothing collection made out of scrapped cars together with fashion brand Rave Review

Czech car manufacturer Škoda and Swedish upcycling fashion brand Rave Review collaborate on an exclusive clothing collection partly made from scrapped cars. The unconventional fashion items illustrate that something used can be reimagined into something new, and the collection is part of the campaign 'Open Air, Open Roads' which aims to inspire to more outdoor adventures. The advertising agency NORD DDB is behind the campaign.

Škoda has worked together with Rave Review to create clothing partly made from used car parts. The exclusive collection consists of a number of key pieces where Rave Review is reusing car seats, seat belts, and fabrics from vintage kilts and blankets to create fashionable utilitarian style jackets, hats, and bags. A collection which aims to demonstrate that something old and forgotten can be brought back into the shape of something new and desirable.

"To let old car parts be given new life as a fashion collection allowed us to be more than a car. It has been inspiring to explore new and innovative solutions together with Rave Review, and with this collection we hope to inspire people to more unconventional creativity for the future," says Stefan Nygren, head of marketing and product at Škoda.

"We believe in unexpected creativity, and so does Škoda. That's why we decided to park the classic serpentine road car ad-trope for some outdoor fun, and literally merge cars with upcycled fashion, together with Rave Review," says Josefina Norén, art director at NORD DDB.

Utilising innovative solutions to solve old problems is a central part of Rave Review’s philosophy – by uncompromisingly combining high-quality materials and timeless design in unique fashion statements they give new life to used objects.

"Working with Škoda has been a fun adventure, to transform car parts into outdoor wearbles proves that upcycling will be an important part of the future," says Livia Schück, co-founder and creative director at Rave Review.

Rave Review and Škoda’s collection of upcycled car scraps is part of the campaign Open Air, Open Roads which has the purpose to encourage people to head out on more outdoor adventures, powered by Škoda’s all-electric Enyaq Coupé RS iV. Škoda’s ambition is to be at the forefront in electrifying the car industry with multiple new battery-driven vehicles currently under development and to be launched within the next few years.

Open Air, Open Roads will be communicated via TVC, DOOH, posters, print, social media, community activations, and PR.

Selected items from the collection will be raffled out through a Škoda x Rave Review Raffle. The raffle is open until December 31st, 2022 at 11.59PM CET and is available here.
