Skip Stones on a Sun Valley Lake from Your Computer

Eleven Inc. have created the unique, immersive digital experience for Sun Valley Resort and Visit Sun Valley

On behalf of Sun Valley Resort and Visit Sun Valley, Eleven Inc. today launches “Skip Town,” a digital experience that lets anyone skip a stone on a mountain lake, right from their computer. Users can control the trajectory and power of their “throw,” watch it skip in real time, post a video on Facebook and Twitter, and compare results on the leaderboard.

To make the experience possible, Eleven engineered and built a stone-skipping robot (“Skippy”) in-house, then drove it in an RV to the shores of a remote lake in Sun Valley, where satellite Internet powered by TodoCAST allows users to remotely control the robot. The end result is a site that puts summertime in Sun Valley literally at your fingertips.

Skippy is skipping stones from July 9 through July 14, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily, Mountain Daylight Time.

Mike McKay, Chief Creative Officer, Eleven, stated, "With our technology-obsessed culture, we thought a stone-throwing robot would be a terrific way to remind them to put their laptops down and explore one of the most beautiful places on earth."

The campaign also includes the “Pack Your Getaway Car” sweepstakes, where visitors to VisitSunValley.com can win a 5-day trip by customizing their dream mountain escape. To enter, users pack a car full of adventures and activities, choosing from a large selection of prizes that showcase the variety of summer activities in Sun Valley—mountain biking, hiking, rafting, fishing, paragliding and more. The winner, drawn at random from the pool of entries on July 27, will then receive a summer getaway of their own design, plus round-trip airfare and accommodations.

The unique campaign has been created on behalf of the Visit Sun Valley and Sun Valley Resort, and is under the theme: Skip Town and Come to Sun Valley.  The campaign is exclusively live online with paid media on Facebook and the Google ad network. Social media channels will be used to cascade the campaign.
