Today, Rethink announced the hiring of former R/GA ECD Fernando Hernández.
Fernando joins Rethink after two years at R/GA New York, where he served as executive creative director for the last year. With over 15 years of industry experience across Latin America and North America, his body of globally recognised work spans brands such as Apple, Google, IKEA, Coca Cola, and KraftHeinz, among many others.
“We’re so proud to have such a talented and globally recognized creative like Fernando join our team,“ says Mike Dubrick, chief creative officer of Rethink. ”I’m a big fan of his work and excited about the type of leadership and creativity he can bring to the team.”
Fernando’s most notable work includes the League Against Cancer’s ‘Cancertweets’ campaign, which took home the Cannes Lion Grand Prix for Good - Lions Health in 2014 (which was the first Cannes Grand Prix in Colombia's history). His most recent work for the Ad Council, as part of its iconic ‘Love Has No Labels’ campaign, features a short film that celebrates the life of George Floyd through the eyes of his sister, Bridgett.
“In all of my years working in the industry, I’ve never been a part of an independent agency, but it’s something I’ve always been attracted to. It was just the matter of finding the right moment and the right partner,” says Fernando. “I’ve been a huge fan of Rethink’s for the last ten years, thanks not only to their attention-grabbing work, but for the agency’s commitment to putting its people first above everything. After my first meeting with Mike (Dubrick) I didn’t have to think twice about joining the team. The work that I see coming out of Rethink on the weekly is the type of work that I want to be doing, and the culture is something that I want to be a part of.”
Born and raised in Columbia and currently residing in New York, Fernando will be relocating to Toronto in the coming weeks in order to provide hands-on leadership to the office’s creative department as group creative director.
Fernando’s addition comes in response to the agency’s continued exponential growth across new and existing clients in both Canada and the U.S.
