Iconic eyewear brand Ray Ban have launched their ‘Genuine Since’ campaign with a sun-drenched short film by Alasdair McLellan, with colour grading by Studio RM’s Jamie Noble. With a distinct 80s sensibility, McLellan’s film explores what it means to be authentic: to fight for what is right, to leave unsatisfactory jobs, to proclaim affection and to take charge of one’s personal style. In classic McLellan fashion, the short is awash with fuzzy camcorder footage and a bright, joyful colour palette comprised largely of oranges and blues. These vibrant tones harken back to the label’s gritty, youth culture history, while still expressing its timelessness.
This bold, vivid style has been expertly distilled by colourist Jamie Noble, who has worked with McLellan for seven years on a range of acclaimed, high-quality campaigns. Noble recently received Bronze at the British Arrows awards for his grade of McLellan’s Calvin Klein x Palace Skateboards ‘CK1 Palace’s short film.
