The boutique colour correction studio welcomes a new producer, colourist, and colour assistant

Boutique colour correction studio Rare Medium today signs three new hires. Moving over from The Mill, Nubia Lima joins as producer, Kristopher Smale as colourist, and Alex Frankland as colour assistant. While based in the Chicago and the wider midwest market, represented by Mary Kate Hatfield at MKH Representation, the trio will be working worldwide.

Across American and Brazilian markets, Nubia has worked in television and advertising on projects for UNICEF, The History Channel, VH1, Burger King, Coca-Cola, and Best Buy, among many others.

Now as a producer at Rare Medium, she will be overseeing relationships between the studio and its agency clients, managing teams of creatives, and handling production schedules and deliveries.

Nubia Lima comments: “I love to see the cool work they’re doing at Rare Medium and how much they’ve grown. I'm excited we're joining this fun and talented team and to expand Rare Medium to our midwest clients.”

Over the past decade, colourist Kristopher Smale has built up an impressive portfolio, collaborating with notable directors such as Stacy Wall, Shawn Levy and Bryan Buckley for global brands including Toyota, Apple, and Verizon.

Kristopher Smale comments: “I really enjoy the creative output and the talent of the agencies in Chicago, and staying here and servicing that market was always at the top of my agenda. Joining Rare Medium offers that opportunity, as well as aligning me with artists whose work I have admired for some time. It's a win-win.”

Colour assistant Alex Frankland’s work spans feature length and short films, music videos, commercials, online promos, viral videos, documentaries, and corporate videos. In addition to working for The Mill and Nice Shoes, he also has experience freelancing across the globe in Hong Kong.

In his new role, Alex will be tasked with providing support for colour grading operations from ingest to delivery.

Alex Frankland comments: “A new journey begins! I’m excited to get into the colour game with Rare Medium's roster of such talent and experience. Many things to achieve, divide and conquer!”
