Quiet Storm has hired top-level strategist Adele Meer as head of planning to bolster the agency's planning team and evolve its strategic offer to keep pace with fast-changing client needs.
Adele, a former strategy director at The Brooklyn Brothers and The & Partnership, will head the agency’s strategic offer, leading on pitches and providing strategic insight to clients, including Chicago Pizza and On the Beach. In the new board-level role she will report to Quiet Storm chief executive Rania Robinson and work alongside company director Jon Howard, whose role is unaffected by the hire.
For the past three years, Adele has worked as a consultant across the industry with agencies, including Media Monks and ODD. She brings extensive cross-category experience to Quiet Storm, having developed strategic campaigns and positioning projects in a diverse range of sectors, including automotive, apparel, energy and confectionery.
She led the launch of MINI UK’s first electric car with the “It’s time to feel MINI Electric” campaign, helping the brand navigate and meet pre-order targets at a point when new car sales were at a seven-year low.
She also developed the new positioning for fashion brand Simply Be whilst at ODD, moving it away from its focus on plus-size to becoming the “fit expert” and both opening the brand up to new audiences who weren’t considering the brand, and retaining an audience who now have much more choice from mainstream brands offering larger sizes.
The repositioning, which was embedded across the whole business, has so far delivered a 23% increase in new customers. The campaign was named System1’s Ad of the Week for resonating with its 25- to 45-year-old target audience.
Commenting on Adele’s appointment, Rania said: “As clients struggle with the on-going trading environmental pressures, finding smarter creative solutions has never been more important. In Adele, who has a history of working in some of the most complex and challenging categories, we are delighted to hire one of the smartest strategists around.
Adele added, “It is a huge honour to join Quiet Storm, an agency renowned for superb strategic thinking and brilliant creative output. I believe strategy should be simple and inspiring, and at the same time forensic whilst always challenging the norm - something Quiet Storm excels at. I can’t wait to get my feet under the desk and set to work at this truly innovative and ground-breaking agency.”
