More people are spending time in their homes in the pandemic era and many have taken on DIY home projects, including switching the colors on their walls. Behr Paint company wanted to help people envision their color transformation without having anyone to step into their home by launching a room makeover contest titled 'Mini Makeovers.'
The contest invited users to send images and written submissions showcasing the spaces they’re considering painting. Once the submissions are reviewed, BEHR experts will select 16 total winners, four grand prize winners will be selected to receive a mini diorama of their space that reflects the color transformation on their wall and will also receive a $200 Home Depot gift card to make their transformations come to life. The 12 runner-ups will also receive a $50 gift card to use toward their makeovers.
Behr’s vice president of colour services, Erika Woelfel, will be making the executive decision of selecting the paint colors for the transformations, considering all aspects of design, the configuration of the room, and style of the furniture. The contest went live on June 22nd nationwide with submissions accepted on BEHR.com/MiniMakeoversContest and closed on July 2nd. The selected winners will be announced on the website this summer. Stop motion animation videos of the Mini Makeovers will launch in September on Behr’s Instagram page.
This effort was supported by BEHR’s creative agency Deutsch LA through the production restrictions that Covid-19 has brought upon the industry. The creative team decided to embrace this new remote experience by documenting the behind the scenes of the production process, which was shot in DLA’s director, Philipp Girke at-home, makeshift studio.
