N=5, Grabarz & Partner, Make Me Pulse, Uncle Grey Y and Heimat contend for the Lovie Agency of the Year Award
The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS), the organisation selecting the finalists and winners for the Lovie and Webby Awards, today announced the Finalists in Online Advertising for the 7th Annual Lovie Awards, including: Code D’Azur (Amsterdam), BETC (France), Havas Media Group (Spain) and Edelman Deportivo (Stockholm).

Their selection of Lovie Winners is supplemented every year by Internet enthusiasts at large who cast their votes for their favourite Finalists in the People’s Lovie Awards, open now through Thursday, 5 October at vote.lovieawards.eu

The Lovie Agency of the Year Award will be presented to the European agency that performs best across all Lovie Awards categories, which span Websites, Online Advertising, Internet Video, Mobile Sites, Apps & Podcasts and Social. Leading the group of contenders is Amsterdam’s N=5 with an impressive weighted score across their combined Finalists and Shortlisted works, followed by Grabarz & Partner Werbeagentur GmbH (Hamburg), Make Me Pulse (Paris), Uncle Grey (Aarhus, Denmark) and HEIMAT Werbeagentur GmbH (Berlin).

To keep pace with the explosion of video produced for the Internet, this season’s Lovie Awards introduced new honours in Online Advertising for Social Video and Video Advertising. Finalists include: 360 Degree of Adrenaline (thjnk ag), Samsung It’s a Match (Boomerang Agency), Salomon Time to Play (1000heads), Audi the Comeback (SapientRazorfish) and more.

To recognise the advertising industry’s renewed focus on cause-related marketing, The Lovies introduced a suite of new honours for campaigns, including Best Cause-Marketing Campaign—with finalists like Shout Down Arms (Scholz & Friends, Berlin), AXE #itsokforguys (72andSunny, Amsterdam), Greenpeace - Cats Vs Bad Tuna (Mr. President, London) and VICE & UN - New Neighbours (VICE UK).

Additionally, Finalists were also recognised this year for Best PR Campaign: IKEA Retail Therapy (Akestam Holst NoA) and The Good Life Agency (N=5, Amsterdam), and for Best Brand Strategy & Planning: Speak Like Patron (We are Social, Milan) and Evert_45 (N=5).

Some of the most popular branded content, branded entertainment and viral marketing campaigns produced for the European market are among this year’s Finalists, including Like My Addiction (BETC), Ikea Responds to Balenciaga (Acne Digital AB, Stockholm), Audi - The Comeback (SapientRazorfish, London), TV2 All That We Share (& Co./ Noa, Copenhagen) and DISCOVR THE WORLD (Cheil Germany GmbH, Schwalbach am Taunus).

Campaigns increasingly move beyond a single medium, as well as embrace digital storytelling in new, editorial ways. Finalists with a strong performance include Sherlock Series 4 Campaign (BBC Worldwide), The Conversation (Vogue Spain), Sense the Flavours (VICE/VIRTUE Scandinavia) and Humans 2.0 (4creative/Channel 4, London).

The Lovie Awards judges are comprised of the European members of IADAS, representing the region’s top innovators and thinkers. New judges for 2017 include Yann LeCun (Director, Facebook AI Research), Marie-Louise Sadakane (Head of Consumer Marketing Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spotify), Silvia van Hooft (Strategy Director, N=5), joining the list of illustrious existing members such as Stephen Fry, “Father of Wi-Fi” Vic Hayes, musician Imogen Heap, Iain Tait (ECD, Wieden + Kennedy London), Mel Exon (CEO, The Sunshine Company), Corinne Vigreux (Co-Founder, Tom Tom), Dan Howell (danisnotonfire), Robin Chase (Founder, Buzzcar) and Joern Welle (ECD, Cheil Germany), amongst others.

Nicolas Roope, Jury Chair for The Lovie Awards, and Creative Partner and Co-Founder of POKE London, says, “This year’s Finalists in Online Advertising rose to the difficult challenge of not only standing out in a crowded media and advertising landscape, but they also created campaigns and advertising content that has the potential to change perception—and in turn, the world. We’re very impressed by, and proud of the ingenuity exhibited this season in advertising.”

All Winners will be announced on Wednesday, 11th October followed by a celebration and star-studded ceremony held at Picturehouse Central, Piccadilly in London, on Thursday 16th November 2017.

The Lovie Awards is supported by Google for the fourth year running as premiere sponsor, joining the Lovie commitment to shining a spotlight on the European Internet’s best and brightest alongside supporting sponsors WP Engine, Buzzfeed and The EDITION London.
