OB42 has welcomed award-winning independent British filmmaker and screenwriter Shane Meadows to its roster for global commercial representation.
Most notably known for directing the cult-classic film, and its three sequels, This Is England, Shane Meadows is a staple of the British Independent Film scene, lauded for his frank portrayal of working-class England rooted in kitchen sink realism.
Shane's feature-length work, including Twenty Four Seven, Dead Man's Shoes and This Is England has swept award festival circuits, picking up several British Independent Film Awards, a BAFTA nomination and a BAFTA win for Best British Film. No stranger to the branded entertainment space, Meadows has also produced branded shorts for Co-Op, Teenage Cancer Trust and Eurostar.
“Commercials were ace when I was a kid, and I looked forward to them as much as the programmes they were interrupting.” says Shane, “I’ve been away from the commercial world for a few years, but after hearing Clancie’s inspiring new vision for OB42, I feel like I can return to the genre and create work with warmth and substance that reflects my voice and style.”
Shane Meadows is the latest of a series of high-profile Film & Television directors signed to OB42 following the appointment of new MD Clancie Brennan, who joined the company to build its director roster with a focus of creating more engaging, storytelling-led commercials. Brennan is also committed to offering directing talent a home to develop their careers as future filmmakers. With the signing of Meadows, OB42 is encouraging its brand and agency clients to tap into the company’s unique talent ecosystem, to amplify their commercial work through access to world-class Film and TV talent and production expertise.
Clancie Brennan, managing director of OB42 comments, “We are delighted to have Shane join our growing roster. As a fan of his work for many years, I can’t wait to create meaningful commercial and branded entertainment together, fuelled by his unique ability to blend humour with poignant drama, creating characters that are both relatable and deeply human. This signing is a true marker of who we are as a company and the engaging content we continue to make.”
