As a continuation of their latest Christmas campaign, DDB Group Aotearoa and The Warehouse are rolling out a free digital storybook which follows the adventures of Nigel the Nutcracker – the little toy with a big wish.
As Kiwi families familiarise themselves with the hero of The Warehouse’s latest integrated campaign, Nigel's charming story lives on with a special online storybook called ‘Nigel’s Christmas Wish’ (Te tōmina kirihimete o Nigel), read by media personality Kara Rickard in both te reo Māori and English.
Anyone in Aotearoa can access the storybook and read or listen along to see Nigel’s wish realised with the help of a little girl’s imagination.
The campaign also includes a competition, where Nigel fans can enter their details to win a limited-edition gift pack, including a printed version of the book in both languages, and their very own Nigel doll. The Nigel dolls have been carefully crafted from New Zealand wood and are dressed in Nigel’s festive outfit ready to take pride of place at the top of the Christmas tree.
With a modern take on a Christmas wish story, Gary Steele, chief creative officer of DDB Group Aotearoa says he’s excited to bring the campaign to life even further by welcoming the Nigel storybook into the homes of Kiwis.
“Extending this campaign means that Nigel and his endearing story is recognised throughout the nation across various outputs. As we lead up to the festive season, we’re stoked to be continuing to ramp up Kiwi Christmas spirit and inspiring others with his story.”
Jonathan Waecker, The Warehouse Group’s chief customer and sales officer agrees.
“Nigel is the face of The Warehouse Christmas this year and his story encapsules how gestures and gifts at Christmas time don’t have to cost the world to mean the world. It leans into what we are all about - no matter the budget, The Warehouse is helping to make Christmas wishes big or small come true.”
