Arts & Letters introduces 'The ESPN Chirpline', the official hotline where fans can chirp about recent NHL trades, playoff matchups and storylines, or whatever, really.
Just dial the free hotline: 1-844-4CHIRPIN (1-844-424-4774) and follow the prompts. The line is open!
This spot is inspired by classic hotline commercials of years past. All relevant logos and the Chirpline number itself are fixed on screen for the majority of the spot, reminding viewers they have a chance to weigh in. The VO is ESPN’s Steve Levy, Host and Anchor for SportsCenter.
Over the next several weeks, ESPN will select some of the most chirp-worthy messages to feature on their social and programming channels. So if you do call in, make it good! The hotline will be open through the end of the NHL Playoffs.
The ESPN Chirpline video will air on ESPN programming and its social channels, including TikTok, X and Meta.
"This campaign gives fans a completely new outlet for taking part in the time-honoured hockey tradition of chirping," said Brendan Howard, creative at Arts & Letters. “We wanted the nostalgic aura of the ESPN Chirpline to resonate with both established fans and the growing younger audience during the impassioned Stanley Cup Playoffs. Ironically, an old fashioned achieves just that."
“There’s a heightened fandom during the Stanley Cup Playoffs – any NHL fan will tell you so,” said Brian Iglesias, vice president, sports marketing at ESPN. “With The ESPN Chirpline, we’ve taken inspiration from those gloriously over-the-top '90s hotline commercials and turned it into an authentic and engaging way for fans to let out all their emotions that come with the intensity of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.”
Arts & Letters started working with the NHL in August of 2024 and has since developed its new platform, 'That’s Hockey'.
