Global media agency, MEC, has appointed MoneySupermarket’s former Head of SEO & Social Media Ben McKay as Managing Director, Organic Performance.
Ben rejoins MEC after spending nearly two years developing a strategic vision to improve online visibility for MoneySupermarket. The new role is the first of its kind for a major media agency. Ben will be responsible for developing insight and high-value content marketing executions to increase online visibility for MEC clients. He will lead a team of 40 in the agency’s Organic Performance team across the Manchester and London offices, and will report into Mick Style, Managing Director, MEC Manchester.
Speaking on the appointment, Mick Style said: “We are delighted that Ben is coming back to MEC. He brings a fantastic perspective of client-side experience from leading one of the most well respected online content marketing teams. He has an enviable reputation and is the right person to drive our Organic Performance services through their next stage of development. Not least, he’s also a great guy to have back in the team.”
Ben McKay, Managing Director, Organic Performance, MEC UK said: “I am delighted to be joining MEC's newly-formed Organic Performance division as Managing Director for such an exceptionally talented team. MEC's culture, clients and passion for results makes rejoining the agency after two great years with MoneySupermarket incredibly exciting.”
Ben left his former position as SEO Director at MEC in 2011 having worked at the agency for three years. His work as Head of Organic Performance at MoneySupermarket saw him lead the significant revenue growth for the UK’s biggest SEO account. To reflect the changing search engine algorithms, he dissolved the traditional SEO and social media teams to create what is now called the Organic Performance team - the largest client-side content marketing team in the UK and includes video, design, web development, SEO, social media and digital PR specialists.
