Last night, during the NCAA 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship between Georgia and Alabama, AT&T ran a live ad to promote its DIRECTV satellite service.
The spot was an innovative integration, taking the viewer from live in-game action straight into the living room of DIRECTV customers. Zooming out from the big game seamlessly, the film blurred the line between what you’re tuning in for and who brings it to you. This live atmosphere integration is also a window into the future of AT&T’s advertising style as they continue to grow, they say.
After the transition, the ad then went on to show a series of comedy vignettes about people who inexplicably enjoy things most people hate, like opening a pre-shaken can of soda or having their seat kicked on an airplane.
