Ahead of this year’s Immortal Awards deadline, the creative director of advertising at Framestore on a feel good piece of advertising he keeps coming back to
In the run up to this year’s Immortal Awards deadline, our jurors have been taking it in turns to select the ads and campaigns that have stood the test of time in their minds, revealing the reasons why they’ve stayed with them through the years as their Most Immortal Ads.

Kamen Markov, creative director of advertising at Framestore, revels in an ad that, despite his expertise, distinctly lacks in the (obvious) post-production department.
The entry system for The Immortal Awards’ 2024 competition is now open. As always, entry is free for Little Black Book members and more information on how you can enter - and start your path to creative immortality - can be found at the bottom of the article.

Volkswagen - The Force

With over 20 years in post-production, it would have been natural for my Most Immortal Ad to be an extravaganza of visual effects. Yet, the one TV commercial that has been continuously etched in my mind has none of that.

It is simply done: a camera, a real set, and a straightforward story. It could have been easily created on a phone, with my family as the cast. One of my all-time favourite ads is Volkswagen's 'The Force'.

It is simple, pure, yet clever, and very relatable. It captures a moment I wish I could experience and be that dad. It is small yet grand, with its score, design choices and the iconic Darth Vader as the main protagonist (albeit a mini one). I love how it was filmed from the little boy’s eye level, following his perspective. A feel-good piece of advertising I keep coming back to.

The Immortal Awards entry system is now open and entries into competition will be accepted until September 5th 2024. All entries must be made for a commissioning client, and must have first aired, broadcast, displayed, launched or published between September 1st 2023 and August 31st 2024.

Every member of LBB is entitled to up to five entries. The full list of rules, including eligibility dates, can be found here.
