Meet ASD: A Band Made up of Five Talented Autistic Musicians

In support of Canadian Ausism Awareness Week, which took place last week, Edelman Canada launched an excellent campaign for Jakes House Charity.

Edelman Canada has marked Canadian Autism Awareness Week, which took place last week, by founding a band. This excellent campaign was created in partnership with grassroots autism charity Jake's House Charity. Autism can be a very isolating condition and given the state of the world, more so than usual, which inspired Edelman's idea to use the universal power of music to bring people together.

The agency formed a band called ASD (named for autism spectrum disorder) made-up of five very talented autistic performers, and recorded cover versions of a select group of classic pop songs. In putting the tracks together, Edelman enlisted the help of those on the spectrum from around the world, inviting them to submit a performance and join the band. Edelman is releasing the songs on all music streaming platforms throughout October. The campaign even has its own merch site, featuring the band’s logo which was co-created by a non-verbal autistic graphic designer out of the UK. Get yourselves a neat new dad cap for a worthy cause here.
