JWT Canada announced today two significant hires for its Toronto office. Ryan Spelliscy, formerly Co-Creative Director at Sid Lee Toronto, has been named SVP, Creative Director. Carolyn Bingham, formerly Group Account Director at Zulu Alpha Kilo, has been appointed to the newly created position of Vice President, Creative Operations.
Spelliscy and Bingham will report to Brent Choi, Chief Creative and Integration Officer, JWT Canada. The two are Choi’s first key hires since he was appointed Chief Creative and Integration Officer in January, with more on the horizon as the agency further strengthens its offering.
“They say to hire people better than yourself,” said Choi. “Ryan has been a superstar everywhere he's been. His experiences touch every medium and every award show. And Carolyn knows that our success begins and ends with the quality of our work. She is relentless in her drive to bring great work to life. JWT Canada just got even stronger.”
Spelliscy will be charged with supporting and executing the creative vision set forth by Choi, pursuing creative excellence. Bingham will leverage her years of client management experience to lead creative services, broadcast production, traffic and print production.
Spelliscy has had a career that’s taken him from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco to BBDO in Toronto to Sid Lee in Montreal. Over the years, he has worked on global campaigns for Adidas and Stella Artois. He won a Titanium Lion for his work on Hyundai Assurance, a campaign Fast Company called one of the most memorable of the modern era, numerous One Show pencils and was part of a team that won Cannes Interactive Agency of the Year, Advertising Age Agency of the Year and multiple Marketing mag Agency of the Year honors.
Bingham returns to JWT Canada from Zulu Alpha Kilo, where she led the team supporting Coca-Cola Sparkling, Still and Juice businesses as a Group Account Director for nearly two years. Prior to that time, she spent nine years at JWT Canada, rising to the position of VP, Group Account Director, on the Nestlé (Confectionery and Ice Cream), Canada Bread, Diageo and Kellogg’s accounts.
“The potential of JWT Canada is unlimited with great clients and great leadership in place,” said Spelliscy. “I’ve known Brent and respected his work for a long time. I’m excited to see where all of us can take it.”
