Netball Australia is taking it to the male-dominated sporting codes with a highly aggressive and combative campaign for its new professional league, the Suncorp Super Netball. A league made up of the best names in netball in the world, it is set to compete with the male-codes for viewers' eyeballs.
Written and directed by Blood UTD (the new sport agency founded by ex-W+K creative director, David Smith), the film showcases the high speed action of the game and the up-in- your grill fierceness of the athletes. All set to a new track from TKAY Maizda, the fresh young Australian hiphop star making waves globally
Said Smith, "From the beginning, we wanted to show a hyper modern view of the game, we wanted to show that this game can stand up to any sport out there. It has all the emotion, drama, tension, and action to compete with any of the male codes. And when you put that with a banging soundtrack from a rising female prospect in the hip-hop world, you have a powerful statement on women's sport."
The TVC is being supported by large outdoor, social posters and a series of "throw-down films" where the star athletes lay it on the line for their competitors, telling them what they can expect on the court this season.
