One of Hollywood’s most prolific female screenwriters, Kirsten Smith, is joining ADFEST 2012 as a keynote speaker, where she will share her advice on creating blockbuster film scripts and award-winning films exclusively with delegates at ADFEST.
Ms Smith is the writer behind box office hits including LEGALLY BLONDE (Reese Witherspoon), 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU (Heath Ledger), and SHE’S THE MAN (Amanda Bynes). Most recently, she wrote and produced THE UGLY TRUTH and THE HOUSE BUNNY, and was Executive Producer of WHIP IT, directed by actress Drew Barrymore.
In total, Ms Smith’s films have grossed over $550 million worldwide, which makes her a bonafide expert in the craft of writing and selling ideas to the world’s most influential executive producers.
“I'm excited to travel to ADFEST to share everything I know about filmmaking and writing scripts, and I look forward to answering all kinds of questions about working in Hollywood,” says Ms Smith.
Jimmy Lam, President of ADFEST, says: “This is the first time that ADFEST has invited a Hollywood celebrity who is not from the advertising industry to share her perspectives on having a ‘lightbulb’ moment, overcoming creative roadblocks, and creating ideas.”
“We can confidently say that ADFEST has secured its most eclectic and prestigious panel of Speakers ever, ensuring this year’s Festival will be our biggest and most informative yet.”
Ms Smith’s Speaker Session will open with an entertaining video clip containing footage from her most popular comedic films. She will then engage in an intimate Q&A, revealing what it takes to become one of Hollywood’s most prolific scriptwriters.
