The world's top creative companies have been revealed in a ranking powered by The Immortal Awards, Little Black Book’s global advertising award

Little Black Book recently unveiled its League Table of Creativity rankings, with Heckler Singapore ranking as the number one production company in Asia and Singapore in 2024.

The League Table of Creativity is powered by The Immortal Awards, with every single entry into the competition scoring points. Points are attributed to all entrant companies and any credited companies which are members of LBB.

On Heckler Singapore’s rankings, managing director and executive producer Charu Menon comments, “It’s a wonderful achievement that makes me very proud. We started six years ago with a team of four. We’ve survived a global pandemic, an economic slowdown, a really volatile industry that has swallowed some of our competitors whole, a pretty fractious political landscape, and various organisational changes to come out as number one. It’s epic. I’m so chuffed!”

It’s been a year full of firsts for the company. “We became a full-service production studio, offering the full gamut of services from production through to post. We brought a host of highly awarded global directors onto our shores for Heckler productions, from Toby Pike for Tiger Beer via Le Pub, to Andrei Juradowitch for Bridgestone via Distillery, Jesse James McElroy for Foodpanda via GUT, Paul Middleditch for Airtasker via Howatson&Co, and Kyra Bartley for Mandarin Oriental via F&B.

“We also had our first foray into long-form with ‘Momentum’ – a cracking six-part series for Bloomberg focused on tech and innovation in Asia, spearheaded by producer Jasmine Tay. And we had our first AI-powered virtual production shoot where all backgrounds were conceptualised, textured, animated and rendered using a combination of generative AI tools and traditional CGI, filmed on a volume stage.”

With everything that the team does, Charu states that “proper artistry and high craftsmanship” are key elements in mind. “We are living through a time where there’s so much AI garbage and visual ‘sameness’. At Heckler, we are lucky to have VFX artists, creatives and producers that are among the best in the business, and as a studio, we’ve never been hungrier! I’d like to think these were contributing factors to our achievements – mastery, love and the desire to push harder.”

As well as its top ranking on LBB’s League Table of Creativity, Heckler Singapore won ‘Best of Craft’ at the Creative Circle Awards this year, in addition to several awards for animation and direction, including a Gold for VFX. On top of this, Charu shares, “We collected shiny metal at One Asia, Shots Asia Pacific and have a few more in the running, so fingers and toes crossed!”

Reflecting over the work that has stood out for the team over the past year, Charu highlights ‘Earth Defender’ as one of the most important projects to date. In partnership with Studio Birthplace, this powerful music film brought awareness to the plight of Indigenous people’s struggle to protect Earth’s vanishing wilderness, with a titular ‘Earth Defender’ going missing or murdered every 48 hours while protecting our life support system.

Other work of note includes the return of ‘#WhatTheFanta’, ‘Toyota House’ and Apple’s ‘Shot on iPhone’ music video with Wren Evans.

The League Table of Creativity is a transparent ranking of the world’s creative companies, covering creative agencies through to production companies and post production houses within the LBB member base.

Furthering LBB’s mission to celebrate creativity, the League Table can be filtered to show the top-ranking companies in different countries, regions, fields and networks. You can draw your own insights from the table here.

A points system has been applied to every Immortal Awards entry, all scored by 2024's 10 local, six regional and one global juries.

The League Table shows how many points each company has earned, and from how many entries, demonstrating not just the total number of points won but the quality of those points. Points will be added to the table following each Immortal Awards cycle, meaning all Little Black Book members can track their ranking and amass points year-on-year.
