It’s the ultimate rivalry between two things you didn’t even realise were rivaling. Freshly-cut hair and one’s favourite cap are in constant competition for the real estate atop men’s domes. 

Now, Sport Clips Haircuts, the nation’s leading franchise dedicated to men’s and boys’ haircare, and Lids, the top destination for licensed sports headwear, are calling a truce with a new product collaboration. Introducing the first-ever Clear Hat – an ingenious solution to the ongoing battle between hairstyle and head fashion. For too long, men have had to choose. With the Clear Hat, now you don’t have to.

Created in partnership with independent ad agency, Preacher, the Clear Hat debuts on National Hat Day (January 15) across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok with a collaborative launch spot, “Rival-We.” One-hundred exclusive Clear Hats will be up for grabs via Sport Clips Haircuts and Lids Instagram giveaway through January 20, allowing winners to display their fades with the same pride they show for their favourite cap. Offline, the camaraderie continues. Fans who shop at Lids will score an MVP upgrade at Sport Clips Haircuts (massaging shampoo, hot steamed towel, and neck and shoulder treatment), while those who get an MVP at Sport Clips can unlock a discount at Lids.

”There’s this inherently ridiculous tension between these two brands that share the same goal of bringing personal style to the tops of men’s heads, but approaching it in directly opposing ways,” said Will McLeod, senior art director, Preacher. “Through this collab, we created something entirely new while highlighting the best of both brands. There are too many great mullets and fades out there that shouldn't be covered up by hats. But if they are, let it be a clear hat.”
