A face-off. A hot sauce. Who will win the ultimate spice showdown? The unwilling contender, thrust into the fiery arena, or the experienced master looking to cement their supremacy once and for all? Hot sauce doesn’t play by the rules. It scorches, surprises, and thrusts us into the inferno of self-discovery, humbling our egos in the flames. Yet, through the burn, something remarkable happens. It connects us.
Introducing Burn Bond a gastro-visual creation from 1stAveMachine represented directing duo Bounty / Banana. Burn / Bond started as a batch of homemade hot sauce from the duo as gifts for their friends and is expanding into a limited batch coming soon. But what better way to celebrate their fiery passion project than by creating a red-hot mixed-media film? The cinematic journey goes beyond the burn of the chilli pepper to tell a deeper story of shared moments and genuine connection, a blend of visual creativity and narrative poetry.
Steven Briand, one half of directing duo Bounty / Banana said, "As we are both mixed cultured , we both have a part of our family that can handle serious heat, and the other that fears the challenge when it comes to the table. With this sauce, we wanted to have something that could bring people together on a fun and tasteful ride. It's a blend of chillies mixed with toasted coconut and cooked with banana leaves and many more spices. It will kick you in the mouth right at the start but the burn will quickly fade to sweet flavours so that hot sauce lovers and rookies can enjoy it together."
In true Bounty / Banana style, the film features hybrid images, mixing real shots with a wide range of on set effects, 2D, 3D animation, AI and mixed media. With invaluable input from Wizz, the film is a fiery dynamic combination of the right ingredients mixed together in the right kitchen, a preparation concocted by two chilli lovers.
Julien Jourdain, one half of directing duo Bounty / Banana said, "Our mums put too much chilli in our food. Now it's our time to pass on the torch. This film is dedicated to our daughters."
