One of the most iconic figures in cricket, Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff, faces one of his own most iconic overs as a bowler in a new film from NatWest.
In a campaign created by M&C Saatchi and posted on the bank’s cricket Twitter feed last night, some clever technology allows the former England captain to “face against the greatest over he’s ever bowled” - in the 2005 Ashes series at Edgbaston.
The moment was recreated on cricket field using a machine built by BOLA that can recreate any ball that’s ever been bowled in test history - recreating the speed, line, length, swing and spin of each ball.
NatWest polled the Twitter-using public on which iconic over they’d most like to see Freddie face and, perhaps unsurprisingly, they chose his own most legendary moment.
The resulting film is a tense experience that communicates the excitement certain moments in cricket can provoke - the perfect prelude to the final weekend of the Cricket World Cup, of which NatWest is a sponsor.
