Framestore's work on Guardians of the Galaxy has received an Oscar animation for its work on Guardians of the Galaxy.
Guardians of the Galaxy VFX Supervisor Jonathan Fawkner is one of the four named in the Oscar nomination for best visual effects, and he’s also on the list for the best film VFX prize at the VES Awards and the Baftas.
Framestore delivered more than 600 shots for the James Gunn-directed Marvel film, creating anger-prone space raccoon Rocket and the alien world of Knowhere, one of their most complex environments ever. It’s Rocket who seems to have captured judges' hearts, adding a nod for best animated character in a live-action film at the VES Awards to the film’s hat-trick of best VFX nominations.
"We are thrilled to be nominated by the Academy, British Academy and the Visual Effects Society for our work on Guardians of the Galaxy and the British Academy's recognition of Paddington. Nominations from our peers in the industry are particularly valued by us and much appreciated. These nominations are the first fruits of our joint Montreal and London teams and a reflection of great artistry and leadership," said CEO William Sargent.
